SIX RECORDS / SIX WAYS OF SEEING

The collection,
object by object.

Read an image as carefully as a label. Each entry describes the picture you can see, without inventing a history for the object.

PX-01 / GOLDWORK

The gold ewer & salver

The ewer rises above the crowded salver. Their different silhouettes keep a richly filled scene from becoming a single mass. A pearl strand quietly connects the two.

Visible materials
Gold, ruby, diamond and pearl — imagined
Form
A tall vessel beside a broad, shallow dish
Light
Raised gold ornament catches a warm side light

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.

PX-02 / GOLDWORK

The nautilus cup

The shell gives the cup a broad, calm surface. Around it, the gold mount turns into small leaves, figures and curling edges. One object holds two very different kinds of detail.

Visible materials
Pearlescent shell, gold, ruby and diamond — imagined
Form
A spiral shell held in an elaborate gold mount
Light
Pale shell reflects broad light; gold edges glitter

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.

PX-03 / JEWELLERY

The ruby pendant

The heavy pendant gives the foreground an anchor. Its chain travels through the folds, inviting the eye to leave the jewel and return by a different route.

Visible materials
Ruby, gold, diamond and silk — imagined
Form
An oval pendant with a looping chain
Light
Crimson glazes meet small, bright diamond facets

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.

PX-04 / MECHANISMS

The timekeeper’s company

A circular dial, a narrow glass vessel and a tiny key suggest different ways of thinking about time. This is a fictional painted arrangement, not a technical diagram of a working mechanism.

Visible materials
Gold, glass, diamond and velvet — imagined
Form
An open watch, an hourglass and a winding key
Light
A pale dial rests between bright gold and deep shadow

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.

PX-05 / CABINET

The open cabinet

An open drawer makes a private arrangement visible. The crown rests above it, while a brooch, papers and a small carved piece suggest several different stories sharing one table.

Visible materials
Wood, gold, ruby, fabric and paper — imagined
Form
Drawers, a small crown and a brooch
Light
Daylight softens the edges of a busy worktable

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.

PX-06 / MECHANISMS

The royal key & seal

The key’s long, plain shaft gives its ornate bow more presence. Beside it, the small seal offers a second scale of detail: something to notice only after the first glance.

Visible materials
Gold, dark metal, green stone and linen — imagined
Form
A long key beside a small engraved seal
Light
Window light separates the dark shaft from the gold bow

Digital artwork, imagined collection. No maker, date, value or provenance is asserted.
